SUMMER 2024 TAXES - DUE SEPTEMBER 16, 2024

Evergreen Township accepts tax collections in person, Fridays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The hall will also be open Monday, September 16th from 9:00 am to 5:00pm.

The Township Hall will be closed Friday, September 20, 2024.

For your convenience a secure drop box has been installed under the window of the back porch. Mailing is always a great option, please send to:

Taxes may be paid by Cash, Check or Money Order. Please have exact change if possible.

Credit/Debit cards are not accepted. 

The Life Cycle of a Tax Bill

From Original Notice through Tax Foreclosure

Current Taxes *
Come out July 1st and December 1st 
Payable to the local unit (Township, Village or City)

Village**: Mailed out July 1 - Collected by Village until the end of September
Summer: Mailed out July 1 - Collected by Township until end of February

Winter: Mailed out December 1 - Collected by Township until end of February 

*Most units accept partial payments

**Only for parcels that lie within an Incorporated Village

Delinquent Taxes ***
Village taxes turned over to the County in October. 
Townships & cities turned over to the County in March (usually mid-month). 

NOTE: We do not have taxes available for payment immediately. Please call our office before making a trip to verify that we have settled with your local unit and that we can issue a receipt. 

County Collects taxes DELINQUENT taxes until the following March 
***Montcalm County Treasurer accepts and encourages partial payments 

 

Taxes in Forfeiture*** 
Delinquent taxes enter forfeiture on March 1st of the year after taxes were first turned over as Delinquent 
Over $300.00 in fees and interest are added
This begins the foreclosure process

Taxes in Foreclosure*** 
Beginning in January the year after property went into Forfeiture

Show Cause Hearing Beginning in February the year after property went into Forfeiture

Judicial Foreclosure Hearing  - Parcels are FORECLOSED at the Judicial Foreclosure Hearing 
Final Day to redeem is March 31 (most years) at the close of business 
***Montcalm County Treasurer accepts and encourages partial payments throughout the year 

 

As of April 1st (Most Years)
Parcels that have been Foreclosed but have NOT BEEN REDEEMED now belong to the County Treasurer

No further redemption opportunities. 

Offered first to the State and to local units (for a public purpose) 
All others auctioned off that summer/ fall.
